The BASICS:
SIZING: Minimum cast letter size:As small as 1/4" ALL CAPS & 3/8" c/lc.
Count # of characters (letters + spaces) and divide by 4, providing typical
plaque size in square inches. E.G.: 200 characters divided by 4 is 50 sq.". This
allows for proper design features like borders, heading, differing
font sizes etc.
IMAGERY: Primary
pictorial imagery consists of
Flat or Bas Relief.
Many find the distinction between Bas
Relief and Flat Relief imagery confusing. Click-to-Enlarge
images, then compare & contrast the treatments presented. Bas is sculptural.
Flat isn't; it's either upper level A or lower level B; no dimensions in
between. Think of bas reliefs = "rolling hills", flat reliefs = "plateaus". Click
Here for an audio/visual explanation.

BAS-RELIEF
PLAQUES:Virtually any design can be produced in bas relief.
Portraits begin with a
submitted picture of the subject. A clay mold is then made. Once approved the
image is cast. The final step is attaching the casting to the base plaque. Bas reliefs
up to 9" tall: add $899 art charge to the plaque price. You likely won't find
a better offer elsewhere. Bas reliefs of inanimate objects lesser amounts.
